Workshop Manual for Youthwork - Preventing sexualized violence

This manual was created from Hazissa for the project „European Flirt Expert“, which offers a concept for 15 hours of workshops with the contents “Flirt strategies”, “dating”, “positive communication”, sexuality and laws on the subject of “sexuality” and “sexual violence” is created. The proven workshop concept is used for further prevention work, to promote prevention of sexualized violence, prevention and sexual health as well as to strengthen a positive consensus concerning dating activities of adolescents.

Objectives: gaining knowledge about sexuality, legal regulations and information about getting help and support, reflecting strategies of flirting and dating, increasing the reflection skills concerning sexuality, body awareness, partnership and relationships and the personal understanding of gender roles, strengthening the slef-esteem and strengthening of communication-skills

Workshop: Teen Dating Violence

In this workshop we will use Love&Respect App Quizz as a key tool. We will use it’s first quiz called “Can you recognize a healthy relationship?” to interact with teenagers, creating debates and listening to their opinions on whether the described conducts belong to a healthy relationship or a toxic one.

Objectives: 

- Identify the ideas around “romantic love”.
- Sensitize about normalization of violent/toxic behaviors in normal life and how this leads to abuse situations in teenagers relationships.

Workshop: Porn as a normalizer of violence in relationships

This workshop was thought to be used among young adults and people in touch with teenagers.
The aim of this activity is to create a debate about porn, to listen to opinions from the participants and to analyze mainstream porn with a critical point of view.

Objectives:

- To identify ideas around sexuality.
- To sensitize about normalization of violent behaviors in sex-affective relationships and how this leads to abuse situations and an escalation of violence.

Workshop: Disney Stereotypes

In this workshop we will talk about the image/desires/aspirations/etc. that are projected in girls and boys by Disney movies.

Objectives:

- To distinguish and analyze the images and roles assigned to boys and girls.
- To compare between the ideas that convey the images of girls and boys in movies and the ideas they have of themselves and of how a girl and a boy should be and/or personal experiences.
- To think over the behavioral models proposed by the characters: real/not real.

Workshops on preventing sexualized violence among youths

This selected activities are part of an educational modul "European Flirt Expert Manual" which was created during the last European Project from Hazissa. It is used for prevention work with youths, in order to promote prevention of sexualized violence, preventing in general and sexual health as well as to strengthen a positive consensus concerning dating activities of adolescents. Prior those activities, read and consider the quality citeria of preventional work against sexualized violence, which are availabe in the workshop manual for youthwork about preventing sexualized violence.

Gender not Sex

Goal of the workshop is to to understand the difference between ‘sex’ and ‘gender’ and learn to recognize gender stereotypes.

Gender Box

At the end of this activity, students will be able to:

•          understand the concept of gender stereotypes

•          realize that gender roles are not a fixed reality but are socially constructed

•          initiate discussions about gender roles: how they are taught and enforced, what is the cost to boys and girls when trying to be compliant with their socially structured gender

Myths about Women and Men & their Consequences

The workshop analyze the ways in which culture conveys messages and express beliefs about men and women. Participants will become aware of the messages that lie behind traditional myths  and how these messages are influencing behaviour.
